Unlike Hernand, Pailune, Demeniss, and Delesyia, the Crimson Desert is not a unified nation or kingdom. It is an immense, largely lawless territory in which settlements, religious communities, merchants, tribes, outlaws, mercenary groups, and independent communities coexist without a single sovereign authority. The region is defined by its extreme environment and by the freedom — and danger — created by the absence of centralized rule. The Lords of Unclaimed Lands explicitly represent the fact that no single faction can legitimately claim the entire desert. …
